A check valve allows fluid to flow in one direction and prevents reverse flow. It operates automatically: when fluid flows in the correct direction, the valve opens; when fluid flows back, the pressure and the weight of the valve disc close the valve, stopping the flow. The lift check valve functions like a globe valve with a disc that lifts off the seat with fluid pressure and falls back to stop flow when the flow reverses. The disc can be all-metal or have a rubber insert. The flow path is narrow, causing a higher pressure drop compared to swing check valves.
